Kaiten sushi (conveyor-belt sushi) restaurant is the best place for a family lunch!

I didn't know why Japanese families liked Kaiten sushi restaurants so much until recently. Now, I'm very much into having lunch at Kaiten sushi restaurant because it can give my family flexibility and comfort to eat out with a toddler.

My first visit to a Kaiten sushi restaurant was a month ago. I had a car inspection and it made my husband, my 13 months son, and I spend about an hour near a car shop until the check was done. We discussed what we want to do for an hour and we decided to have lunch.

Fortunately, Kura-sushi which is one of the major Kaiten sushi restaurant chains is a couple of minutes away on foot from the car shop. The day before, we made a reservation online in case the restaurant was busy because of the weekend. In the end, they weren't busy at all but having made a reservation was a better choice anyways.

We didn't expect that they had a booster chair but we grabbed it on our way from the entrance to the assigned seat. The booster was made of wood and looked hard but my son didn't seem to be bothered by it.

Generally speaking, little children are better to avoid raw seafood so major kaiten sushi restaurant chains have dishes suitable for children which use omelets, meatballs, canned tuna, corn, and so on. Moreover, they have a variety of side menus which include fried potatoes, udon/ramen/soba noodles, and salad. We picked fried potatoes, meatball sushi, omelets sushi, and broccoli and shrimp mayo salad for our son, and he enjoyed them so much.

All in all, we had never felt more comfortable when we were in the restaurant because inside the restaurant was quite noisy with background music and voices of other customers including families, and my son's voice was drowned out by those.

It's easy to convince ourselves that kids are noisy and other people don't mind it as much as their parents do but we tend to do mind our children's behavior when we go out for lunch/dinner. Have you tried kaiten sushi restaurant for family lunch/dinner? You might feel welcome there.
