What I'm always trying to be as a counselor and person

Updated: Sep 23, 2022

Thank you for visiting and coming back to Porch's blog.

Today I'm writing about what I'm always trying to be as a counselor and person. To put it simply, I want to be the kind of person people can easily ask for help. Can you come up with a person like it around you? What is the asset of being a person like that?

To answer those questions, I want you to imagine that you are in a strange place. Luckily, you understand and speak their language. Who would you ask for directions if you have to? You might not choose a person looking their hands full. You might not go for a person looking grumpy. You might avoid a person looking immature or irresponsible.

A Japanese businesswoman/ author of several best-seller books, Kazuyo Katsuma referred to this matter on her Youtube and said, "People radiate their personality as cell phones radiate radio waves. People are able to distinguish others if they are trustworthy or not and if they are harmful or not by nonverbal communication."

Now I want to go back to the point that I want to write about today. I think people getting questions for directions might share the same asset of being a good counselor because both would be trustworthy, and friendly, and the last but not least, they can lead you in the right direction.

So, to be a good counselor, I'm making an effort to be positive, not be moody or grumpy, laugh more, sleep and eat well along with finding a solution to the client's request. Also, so far, I'm asked for directions quite often in Kyoto. I also was asked for directions a couple of times in Taiwan when I visited there as a tourist. Please meet me online and see if you feel comfortable asking me questions!!
